Me Time

“Me time” doesn’t have to be a whole day at the spa, in fact it could be just 15 minutes relaxing or taking a walk amongst nature. You should find a little time every day to relax and recharge, whether that’s a whole day at the weekend or just an evening after work, you need to find something that helps you make the most of the time you have to yourself.

‘Me time’ can also be known as self-care. Self-care is a popular topic these days, but it’s often explained poorly. So what is self care? Why is it important? There are a lot of self-care practices but not all of them suit everyone. Self-care encompasses just about everything you do to be good to yourself. It’s about being kind to yourself and realising when your resources are running low.

 

 

 

 

Unplug

Have a break from social media, emails, phone calls and all electronics for a certain amount of time. Instead, read a book or magazine or go for a walk. Try doing this in the morning before work, or in the evening when you want to have some me time.

 

 

 

 

Take a Nap

We all love having a nap. It can help us to feel more refreshed to let our brains rest for a little while. Get into bed and really rest. It is said that the ideal nap time for most adults is 10 to 20 minutes. Anything less will provide minimal rejuvenation, while napping for longer than 20 minutes can lead to being sleepier and problems sleeping later that night.

 

 

 

 

Watch Your Favourite Movie

Sometimes a little guilty pleasure can be good for the soul. Watch something you love or that you rarely get the chance to enjoy. Depending on how busy you are, this can be a very real and rare treat.

 

 

 

 

Indulge in a Hobby

What do you do for fun? Make it happen! Spending time indulging in our favourite hobby can bring us complete joy. Go to that dance class, play some football, paint some pictures or play your favourite instrument. Make time to include this in your routine.

 

 

 

 

Exercise

Get outside for a walk or run, or get to the gym or take a group class for a full body workout. Make time in your daily routine to schedule exercise. Find an activity you love and then the ‘me time’ effect is a bonus.

 

 

 

 

Clear your Head

Meditate, go to a yoga class, or play some music and relax. Find what works for you, and a time of the day that you can be alone.
