How Does Christmas Affect the Skin?

Christmas is a time for celebration! We over indulge on bad food and drinks, and over time this has an impact. Sugary sweets and snacks may be part of the festive season, but they’re sure not sweet for your skin! These foods and late nights can negatively affect our skin. The sweet food leads to a rise in blood sugar, and also stimulates sebum production and worsens hormone imbalances, which can cause spots and redness.



Enjoy your Christmas and have fun, but there are a few things you should be doing to keep your skin healthy and glowing this time of year.


Make Time For Yourself

The build up to Christmas is stressful. Making sure everything is prepared, the pressure of gift buying, Christmas dinner prepping and worrying about everything in between doesn’t leave you much time for yourself. But it is important that you do! Giving yourself a proper break over the holidays you’ll be setting yourself up for a more successful start to the year. Also, make sure to stick with your skincare routine – Your skin will thank you for it!






Stay Hydrated

The cheapest and easiest beauty trick – drink water! Drinking plenty of water is so important, but at Christmas time we tend to indulge on sugary or alcoholic drinks and forget about keeping ourselves hydrated. Dehydrated skin can look dry, and fine lines and wrinkles are more visible. Water helps to rid the body of toxins, which is great at Christmas time when you end up eating and drinking more bad things than usual.







It’s probably been a long day and the only thing you want to do is sit down and watch a film or get into bed. No matter how you feel, remove your make-up and stick to your skincare routine. Choose products that contain organic facial oils that have essential fatty acids, to help give moisture and plump the skin so it feels smooth and healthy.
